Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

This incident resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
